The Slope broke ground on April 2, 2026, a mixed-use development designed to complement the growing Deer Valley East Village area with new upscale lodging, dining, and gathering spaces, with phased openings anticipated over the next several seasons. Additional announced developments include The Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Deer Valley and Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley, both under construction with completion dates before 2030.
What that means in practice for a current resident: the two-lane rhythm on US-40 during peak summer weekends will get busier before it gets easier, and the arrival of hotel dining at the gondola creates a real reason to point out-of-town guests east rather than pulling them into Old Town for every meal.

- Volunteers run the Swiss German food booths, and the food side is cash-only per longtime attendee guidance.
- Heber Valley Artisan Cheese produces the cheese used at the festival from local dairy, which is a useful reason to stop at their River Road location even outside the festival weekend.
- Wear closed-toed shoes and light, breathable clothing. It gets hot, so carry water. If you have an infant, bring a carrier rather than a stroller.
- The Friday morning window right at 8 AM is the least crowded shopping hour of the two days. Locals who want the artisan booths without the crush aim for Friday, not Saturday.
